HyTES Completes First Science Flights

Friday, June 14, 2013

Thermal Infrared (TIR) imaging spectrometer acquiring data between 7.5 mm and 12.0 mm

  • First NASA TIR instrument that provides high spatial and spectral resolution data with a wide image swath
  • Data will be used to determine the optimum band positions for the spaceborne Hyperspectral Infrared Imager (HyspIRI) as well as provide antecedent data for science studies
  • First science data collected in corridor between Grand Junction, CO and Burbank, CA. Sites included geological and ecological targets as well as areas of gas emissions.
  • Funded and managed by NASA Earth Science
  • PI: Simon J. Hook (JPL)
