AirMOSS – Airborne Microwave Observatory of Subcanopy and Subsurface – Earth Ventures-1

Monday, August 24, 2015

We have successfully completed our very last campaign over the Marena, Oklahoma In-Situ Sensor Testbed (MOISST) grasslands site.  In all, we conducted three flights over MOISST on August 7, 11, and 15 respectively.  The first flight was coincident with COSMOS rover soil measurements performed by Oklahoma State University.  The AirMOSS observations over Walnut Gulch in conjunction with the SMAP cal/val campaign is nearly completed as well, having flown 5 flights on August 8, 10, 13, 16, and 18 respectively.  Four of the five flights (except for August 13) were SMAP satellite under flights where AirMOSS data were acquired nearly the same time as SMAP’s radiometer.  Our last acquisition over Walnut Gulch will be conducted on September 1 in conjunction with the SMAP space borne observation.
