To date NASA AVIRIS-NG imaging spectroscopy measurements have been acquired for 51 of 57 planned sites (>280 flight lines). Water quality imaging spectrometer measurements of the Ganges (site 44) were acquired on the February 23. AVIRIS-NG with the aircraft is currently collecting data for a mangrove ecosystem site near Kolkatta.
AVIRIS-NG began flying science targets in India on the December 17, 2015. Sites collected have science objectives spanning: coastal zone; mangrove forests; Asian soils; Asian forests; hydrocarbon alteration; mineralogy; agriculture; urban; and calibration/validation. Science data acquisition flights are expected to continue through early March.
