NASA issued a press release (developed by JPL and Armstrong Public Information Offices) entitled, “NASA Research Aids response to Earthquake in California’s Napa Valley”, where it highlighted the use of UAVSAR repeat-pass interferometric data to reveal slips that occurred on multiple strands of the fault near the quake’s epicenter.
Other press coverages that highlighted the ongoing UAVSAR research on the South Napa Valley earthquake included livescience, and the Pasadena Star-News. The latter article included interviews of UAVSAR Principal Investigators Eric Fielding and Jay Parker regarding ongoing UAVSAR and satellite radar observations as well as GPS measurements to monitor activities along the San Andreas Fault in an effort to better understand the probability of future earthquakes as well as emergency response applications.
