The CARVE project has officially ended at the end of FY’16.  The project has met or exceeded their level 1 requirements and completed all milestones on cost and schedule.

Last week, due to Alaska winter storms, CARVE only flew two days for total of 12.5 science flight hours.  On November 3 and 5, CARVE flew to the North Slope and observed enhanced CH4, North of the Brooks range.

"Alaska is sinking due to Permafrost” hosted by Dave Malkoff.

CARVE last week, flew 26 science flight hours, in four flight days. CARVE flew to Fort Yukon Bethel, Barrow, and Nikolai.

On Saturday, October 17, with inclement weather covering all of Alaska, we concluded the successful October campaign.

CARVE for October, flew a total of 54 science flight hours in 10 flight days.  

CARVE last week flew 6 science flight days, for a total of 27 science flight hours. CARVE flew to Innoko, Bethel, Nikolai, and Fort Yukon (twice) and down towards Beaver Creek.

CARVE's last flight for the September campaign was to the Innoko.  CARVE observed increased CH4 and CO2.

CARVE wrapped up the successful September campaign with a total of 37 science flight hours in 7 science flight days, BUT the big news is, CARVE since 2012,  has flown over 1000 science flight hours with 100 percent dispatch rate with JPL supplied equipment.

On September 6 flight (Fairbanks to Bettles in the North, and Galena to the West), shows elevated CO2 near Bettles and Galena. 

The CH4 plot below shows elevated CH4 only near Galena for the same flight day.

This week, CARVE continued the August campaign. CARVE flew 5 science flight days for a total of 33 flight hours. Science locations included Nome, Bethel, Innoko, Nikolai, and Fort Yukon.

On August 15, CARVE flew in the Fort Yukon area and acquired elevated CH4 and CO2.
